 Milissa Laurence: Pastry Chef
Born and raised in Greenwich, Ct., Milissa started baking at age 11, as she systematically and independently baked her way through her mother's cookbook library. Her seven siblings were appreciative tasters. After graduating from Bennington College in Vermont, with a B.A. in Drawing and Painting, Milissa moved to Nantucket where she made quilts and designed sweaters. Her quilts have hung in exhibitions in Nantucket while her sweaters have been sold in stores in Nantucket and on Newbury St. in Boston, MA. Milissa's sweater designs have been published in national magazines.
Upon leaving Nantucket, Milissa settled in Boston where she worked for several years in various positions at the catering company, Cuisine Chez Vous. It was when she started making desserts and wedding cakes for the company that she knew she had found her calling. From Cuisine Chez Vous she moved on to become the pastry chef at the Sherborn Inn, and later at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
Milissa is happiest when she is being creative so it was serendipitous to end up working for the creative chef, Jeff Fournier at 51 Lincoln. Milissa welcomes the creative challenges of working at Citrio. |
